Welcome!
Hi! I’m Adam, welcome to my blog!
A lifelong politics nerd, I have debated (argued!) about almost every subject under the sun: electoral reform, Brexit, the economy, the constitution; you name it, I’ve probably covered it at some point. I’ve always imagined sharing my arguments beyond a classroom or pub, and that’s exactly what I want to do with this blog.
So, why now? Well, the last year in British politics has been, to put it mildly, quite unexpected. The success of smaller parties like Reform UK over the last year have propelled the UK into a new era of multi-party politics perhaps not seen since the days of the Cameron-Clegg coalition. Now more than ever, the Tory-Labour diarchy is breaking at the seams: will it hold? Or will the British political system come to resemble our European partners in France and Germany? With all this ‘out with the old’ sentiment and desire for change, I decided now was the perfect time to pick up a pen (or rather, my laptop) and argue for what the ‘way forward’ should look like.
I’m also a firm believer that history is always influencing us, and that also applies to modern politics. The British political system as it stands is deeply rooted in history and convention, and the geopolitical landscape today is itself a product of the 20th century.
With that in mind, my regular blogs will cover the latest in politics and current affairs including the influences of historical context. For now all of my content will be completely free. No paywalls. Just politics, my opinion, and a healthy dose of history to go with it.
